About the artist

IMG_6626.jpeg

As a pastel artist living in the United States, my work is a reflection of a lifelong journey that began in Denmark, where I was born and raised.

Drawing inspiration from the rich tapestry of European art, I am profoundly influenced by the emotive power of the Expressionists and the pioneering spirit of female artists such as Anna Ancher, Mary Cassatt, and Berthe Morisot. Their ability to capture the essence of their subjects with sensitivity and boldness resonates deeply with my artistic vision.

The pastel medium is my chosen conduit for expression, offering a unique immediacy that echoes the tactile joys of childhood finger painting. The pastel medium allows the blending of colors with one's hands which creates an intimate and visceral connection to the work.

In my compositions I seek to explore the delicate balance between light and shadow, creating contrasts that mirror the dynamic beauty of the natural world.

Having embarked on my artistic journey later in life, I approach each piece with a sense of gratitude and wonder, embracing the opportunities to exhibit locally and share my work with the community. The recognition and awards I have received serve as humbling affirmations of the connection my art forges with others.

Over the years I have been taking thousands of photos and continue to do so. Some of these photos now serve as inspiration  and reference.

I have exhibited locally at Firehouse gallery in Milford, as well as Milford Arts Center, Lyme Art Association Gallery, Slater Memorial Museum in Norwich, City-Wide Open Studios New Haven, New Haven Paint and Clay Club, Connecticut Women Artists, Connecticut Pastel Society, Madison Art Society,  and Colors of Humanity Art on-line gallery
